  • Knows how to make friends and get along well with people; to treat them with fairness, compassion & respect;
  • Grows healthy & strong, believes in themselves and has the confidence and resilience to follow their dreams;
  • Feels part of their community, proud of their school and inspired to make a positive difference in the world

Values

  • Aspiration: aiming high; broadening horizons; creating possibilities
  • Innovation: taking risks; daring to be different; pioneering research; shaping the future; leading the way
  • Equality: inclusive; excellence for all; welcoming and celebrating diversity
  • Generosity: open doors; collaboration; challenge and support; community-minded; team spirit

Ethos

“There comes a point where we need to stop just pulling people out the river. We need to go upstream and find out why they’re falling in.”

Desmond Tutu (1984), South African Anglican cleric and theologian

Our guiding principle is the philosophy of Trauma Perceptive Practice. Being Trauma Perceptive encourages us all to think and act more boldly, through our values, policies and practice. This is vital in helping us to understand how to effectively support children and young people in our school and beyond, whilst enabling us to create safe places where all can flourish, become resilient and learn.

“The content of your character is your choice. Day by day, what you choose, what you think, and what you do is who you become.”

Heraclitus – Greek Philosopher
